Sessions & Fees
Initial consultation
Free of charge
A free 20-minute introductory call to briefly talk about what brings you to therapy, answer any questions and consider whether working together feels like the right fit. There is no pressure to book afterwards.
Individual therapy
£130 per session
Individual sessions last 50 minutes and are offered online. We’ll agree together what you would like to work on and review how therapy is helping as we go.
Couples & relationship therapy
£160 per session
Couples sessions last 60 minutes and are offered online. Before beginning couples work, I will consider with both partners whether this is a safe and appropriate form of support.
Reduced-cost therapy
Through Together CIC
If private therapy is not financially accessible, you may be able to apply for subsidised psychological therapy through Through Together CIC, a separate social enterprise created to improve access to specialist support. Availability depends on eligibility, funding and capacity.
Payment & cancellations
Self-funded sessions are paid by bank transfer. Full payment and cancellation information will be provided before therapy begins.
Practice Policies
Confidentiality & safeguarding
What you share in therapy is treated as private and confidential. There are, however, some circumstances where I may need to share information — for example, if I become seriously concerned about your safety or someone else’s safety, or where disclosure is required by law.
I will explain confidentiality and its limits clearly before therapy begins, so you know exactly what to expect. Where possible, I would aim to discuss any need to share information with you first.
Cancellations & rescheduling
I understand that plans sometimes change. I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session.
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will normally be charged at the full session fee, although exceptional circumstances can always be discussed.
Privacy, records & data protection
Your personal information and therapy records will be handled securely and in accordance with UK data protection requirements.
I will only collect information that is necessary for providing psychological services, and you will be given a full Privacy Notice explaining how your information is stored, used and retained, as well as your rights in relation to your data.
Online therapy & urgent support
Sessions are currently offered online. Before starting, we will consider whether online therapy is appropriate and whether you have somewhere sufficiently private and safe to talk.
Through Psychology is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, please use the urgent and specialist support information provided on this website rather than waiting for a response from me.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is completely normal to have questions before starting therapy. Here are some of the things people often want to know before getting in touch.
Starting therapy
Do I need to know whether my relationship is abusive before contacting you?
No. You may simply know that something does not feel right, that you are changing your behaviour to avoid conflict, or that you no longer feel like yourself. You do not need to decide what label fits your experience before coming to therapy. We can make sense of what is happening together.
Can I come to therapy if I am still in the relationship?
Yes. You do not need to have left, be planning to leave or have made any particular decision about your relationship. Therapy can give you somewhere to think openly about what is happening, understand its impact on you and explore what you want.
What happens during the initial consultation?
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call. It is an opportunity for you to tell me a little about what brings you to therapy, ask questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right. You do not need to tell me your whole story during this call, and there is no pressure to book afterwards.
What happens in the first therapy session?
The first session is mainly about beginning to understand what is happening for you and what you would like help with. I will ask some questions, but it is not an interrogation and you will not be expected to disclose experiences you are not ready to talk about. We will start building an understanding together and think about what would make therapy useful for you.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no single answer. Some people come with something relatively focused, while others want time to understand experiences that have developed over many years. We will agree what you want from therapy and review the work together rather than committing you to an open-ended course of sessions from the outset.
About the therapy
What kind of therapy do you offer?
My approach is formulation-led and integrative. This means I do not expect everyone to fit one particular therapy model. Depending on what you need, I may draw from Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema-informed approaches. The important part is not fitting you into a model — it is understanding your experiences and finding an approach that is useful for you.
Do you offer couples therapy?
Yes. I work with couples who feel stuck in patterns of conflict, disconnection, mistrust or communication difficulties. I can also work with couples where one or both partners have experienced domestic abuse or relationship trauma in previous relationships and those experiences are affecting the relationship they are in now.
Couples therapy is not appropriate where there is current domestic abuse, coercive control, fear or intimidation between partners. I will therefore consider safety and suitability before couples work begins.
Is your practice LGBTQ+ affirming?
Yes. I welcome LGBTQ+ clients and do not assume what your relationships, identity or life should look like. I also recognise that domestic abuse can involve experiences specific to sexuality or gender, including identity-based abuse, threats of outing, isolation from community or control relating to gender-affirming support. You should not have to educate me about who you are before we can talk about what is happening to you.
Is therapy neurodiversity-informed?
Yes. Therapy can be adapted around your communication style, sensory needs, processing preferences and what helps you feel most able to engage. There is no expectation to communicate, make eye contact, process emotions or participate in therapy in one particular way.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. Through Psychology currently provides online therapy to adults across the UK. Before therapy begins, we will consider whether online therapy is appropriate for you and whether you have somewhere sufficiently private and safe to talk.
Practicalities & safety
How long are sessions and how much do they cost?
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes and cost £130. Couples and relationship therapy sessions are 60 minutes and cost £160. The initial 20-minute consultation is free.
Is what I say confidential?
What you share in therapy is treated as private and confidential. There are some circumstances where I may need to share information, for example if I become seriously concerned about your safety or someone else's safety, or where disclosure is required by law. I will explain confidentiality and its limits clearly before therapy begins. Where possible, I would aim to discuss any need to share information with you first.
What if it is not safe for someone to see that I have contacted a psychologist?
You can use an alias when making your initial enquiry and tell me how it is safest to respond. The contact form allows you to request neutral wording, so my reply does not need to mention psychology, therapy or domestic abuse. You can also tell me about safe times to contact you or anything else I should know about communicating with you safely.
What if I cannot afford private therapy?
Through Psychology works alongside Through Together CIC, a separate social enterprise being developed to improve access to specialist psychological support. Where funding and capacity allow, subsidised therapy may be available through the CIC for people who cannot access private therapy. Eligibility and availability will be managed separately from the private practice.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will normally be charged at the full session fee, although exceptional circumstances can be discussed.
What if I need urgent help?
Through Psychology is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, please use the urgent and specialist support information provided on this website rather than waiting for a response to an enquiry.
